À-la-carte restaurant in the Karnerhof – gourmet experiences in Carinthia

The Karnerhof spoils guests and visitors alike with authentic Carinthian culinary delights – served in one of the most beautiful locations on the Faaker See.

Home-made, creamy Carinthian eisreindling for dessert, with a view of the turquoise blue lake waters and the Mittagskogel. A glass of sparkling Uhudler wine at the bar. Suckling pig ravioli with Szegediner broth in the award-winning Götzlstube restaurant. Each and every day, your hosts the Melcher-Karner family live out their culinary passion with a discriminating sense of taste and style. Only fresh products of the highest quality find their way into the kitchens of the Karnerhof.

To accompany the freshly-harvested products from the hotel’s own garden, the Melcher family works closely with a range of local producers from Carinthia and the Alps-Adriatic region. This is reflected in the basic character of the hotel’s cuisine: down-to-earth with local roots, yet worldly and open to new influences. A light Mediterranean accent helps bring the flavour of the region – and the season – directly to every plate. The impressive Carinthian cuisine is beautifully complemented with a selection of fine wines and digestifs.


Lunchtime: light and classic

Carinthian spaetzle, fine veal tafelspitz or trout from local waters. A range of light dishes and Austrian classics are served in the Karnerhof’s restaurant with its panorama windows, or out on the expansive terrace. Our restaurant on the Faaker See makes an ideal spot for lunch with the family or friends.

Afternoon: small treats and heavenly sweets

During the afternoon, small snacks like our own tender sliced smoked ham and beef bouillon tempt guests into the hotel restaurant. Home-made strudel, cakes and tortes make a coffee break after a stroll around the lake a special experience. Ice cream creations like our mango-strawberry or pear-prosecco bowls and a refreshing wine spritzer can bring a cool sparkle to any summer afternoon.

Good to know: starting at 6pm, the hotel restaurant and its terraces are reserved exclusively for our overnight guests. The hotel bar and the gourmet restaurant Götzlstube continue to spoil both guests and visitors alike.

Aperitifs are also part of the Karnerhof lifestyle. Savour a glass of prosecco, a cocktail or a long drink with a view of the Faaker See from our cozy, elegant hotel lobby. On cooler evenings, a log fire crackles contentedly in the fireplace. Fine wines by the glass, Austrian gin, beer from Villach and craft beer from Carinthia round out the wide selection at the Karnerhof bar.

In the Autumn of 2016, I celebrated my own 50th birthday at the Karnerhof. It was an unforgettable day with a fantastic menu, and the whole experience exceeded my greatest expectations. As a Karnerhof employee, it was really interesting to see how my service colleagues work so hard to meet the wishes of every single guest.

Evening: Award-winning cuisine in the Götzlstube

Elegant tableware and decoration, together with the finest the in culinary arts. Our kitchen chef Peter Brandstätter and his team spoil you in the Götzlstube, our award-winning restaurant featuring two toques from Gault Millau. Imaginative dishes are creatively composed and lovingly garnished. On balmy summer evenings, the Götzlstube’s vine-clad covered terrace exudes a unique atmosphere with its view of the Faaker See and the Karawank mountain range.
