The Faaker See in the warm sunshine. Gentle waves. Sparkling turquoise blue waters. Carinthia’s fifth largest lake is a true natural gem. But the allure goes beyond its gleaming appearances; the lake itself has the purity of drinking water. That makes it all the more fun for your family to plunge into the crystal clear waters that can reach 27°C in the summertime. For the little ones it means running across the lawn and down the wooden dock for a running jump into the water. While snorkeling, keep a lookout for pike and perch. Splash, play and discover. Wherever you can.
For grown-ups, beyond the water fun with the kids, there are plenty of those relaxed moments that make a holiday so special: Resting in your favourite shady spot. Taking a quiet plunge in the lake. Exploring the Faaker See on your own with a kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard. Gliding across the waters in almost complete silence with our electric boat the “Seerose”. Finding your own watery path and let your eyes wander along the reed-grown shoreline.
A peaceful place, nestled in the middle of Alpine nature. For families. Built for fun. Managed with heart. That’s the Karnerhof. Every family has their own very personal needs. That’s why at the Karnerhof, you can choose between large double rooms, suites and family apartments up to 70 sq. metres. And if the sun happens not to be shining, you’ll find plenty of ways to while away the hours at our indoor pool, at our table tennis tables, in our spa and wellness area and play corner.
During July and August, our childcare team can look after kids aged three and up, six days a week. Your children will run, play and laugh outdoors in nature with friends their own age, explore the hotel’s own spice garden with the kitchen chef, or put on a show together. A new adventure awaits each day.
Eating together: a daily highlight during your family getaway in Carinthia. The cuisine at the Karnerhof is locally-rooted yet cosmopolitan. Kitchen chef Leonhard Salchegger takes you on a culinary tour through Carinthia and the Alps-Adriatic region, sampling the people and the tastes of the Dreiländereck where Austria, Italy and Slovenia meet. A journey to traditional food producers, their expertise and their handicraft. He also brings flair to the plates of your little ones with delicious children’s menus. At meals, in your room, or on our expansive terraces, there’s one thing that’s always served up generously: the impressive view of the Faaker See and the Karawank Mountains.
Museums, swimming complexes, boat rides, mountain railways, panoramic driving routes or animal parks: the reasonably-priced Kärnten Card entitles you to free entry at many of Carinthia’s 100-plus family-friendly attractions. Plus, you can also explore the immediate surroundings of the Karnerhof with an Erlebnis Card for the Villach region. This is available free of charge from reception.
