Vacation feeling in turquoise.
Vacation at Austria's southernmost bathing lake.
Lake Faak: a natural jewel in Carinthia.
Nestled in the mountain landscape of the Southern Limestone Alps, the Karawanken with its snow-capped peaks, and in the green of Austrian mountain forests, the unique hue of the lake water lends Carinthia's fifth largest lake an almost mystical atmosphere - especially in the twilight hours of sunrise and sunset. Incidentally, the coloration of the lake water is caused by the sun's reflection of tiny lime particles that enter the lake from the glacier via the main tributary, the Worounitza. It is not for nothing that Lake Faak is known as the Caribbean of Carinthia.
As one of the warmest bathing lakes in Austria, it reaches up to 26 degrees in summer on an area of just 2.2 km². At the same time, Lake Faak is the southernmost bathing lake in Austria and, with drinking water quality, one of the cleanest. The island in Lake Faak rises 12 meters above the water surface from west to east and in July and August serves as the starting point for the 1100 meter long, accompanied lake crossing back to the Karnerhof. Catfish, whitefish, lake trout and pike frolic under the water, while ducks, great crested grebes and swans can be seen above the waves.

Romantic hideaway on Lake Faak.
If you are looking for a quiet, idyllic spot, you will find your hideaway in the warm season at the Karnerhof's lakeside resort. A short path leads from the hotel down to the lake. The large sunbathing lawn, the barbecue area, the beach bistro and the children's playground with carousel, swings and climbing tower. It's all there, right on the lakeshore. Next to it is the boathouse, a special place. Or the romantic sauna, the massage area. The sun shines through the cracks in the wooden walls, sending golden yellow rays in which grains of dust dance. It is warm. At your feet, two rowing boats rock leisurely on soft waves. Water laps against the wooden piles. Outside, you can hear voices and laughter. And you are right in the middle of the wonderfully relaxed SEEMOTIONS.
A varied vacation on Lake Faak.
Just a few kilometers from the Slovenian border, Lake Faaker See is not only a great place to swim, but also boasts surrounding mountain peaks that are perfect for hiking, biking and climbing. You can cycle around the lake in less than an hour or take a few stages of the 366-kilometer Drau cycle path, which leads from South Tyrol to Slovenia: Everything is possible from Lake Faak. The cycle paths in the Villach - Faaker See - Ossiacher See region are constantly being improved and extended. Marked routes offer the opportunity to explore the mountains effortlessly and enjoy the landscape to the full. But flowing trails and tracks also give bikers the necessary kick for an exciting day in the saddle. It's not just the breathtaking nature that attracts visitors to the shores of Carinthia's southernmost bathing lake: the cultural offerings of the town of Villach and a wide range of leisure and sports activities around the lake also provide plenty of variety.
Water sports on Lake Faak.
Swimming, paddling and much more.
The Karnerhof's own lido, reserved exclusively for hotel guests, is an ideal starting point for a variety of water sports activities: leisurely swims, boat trips and paddling adventures in kayaks and canoes. The fact that no motorboats are allowed on Lake Faak makes sailing and surfing beginners particularly happy.

The "Seerose" electric boat
Our electric boat "Seerose", which is moored at the Karnerhof beach, is an elegant highlight that allows you to plow through the water with pleasure. The "Seerose" is a stylish and almost silent way to explore Lake Faak. A boat trip or a detour to the island in the middle of the lake are possible in mild temperatures until the end of October.
A boat for lovers and other romantics. On the "Seerose" you can enjoy the moment surrounded by sun, beach and more. Listen to the gentle lapping of the waves. Enjoy the unique view of the Mittagskogel and the Karawanken mountain range. We are also happy to take care of your physical well-being: for example with a bottle of Uhudler Frizzante with strawberries or a salmon brunch.
