The Taborhöhe with forest rope park.
All-round view with a mystical history.
The Taborhöhe is considered to be shrouded in mystery, mainly because of its many caves, which have been created by the special nature of the rock, the Sattnitz conglomerate. This type of rock behaves in a similar way to lime: water can seep in and wash out the rock.
Refuge during the Turkish wars.
Some of the caves are well known; according to legend, the "salty women" lived in one of them - helpful and wise women who provided advice and assistance to the people of the country. These good souls were shy of people and detested noise - and woe betide anyone who disturbed them with loud noises.
People retreated into the caves, especially during the Turkish wars. In the past, the Tabor has repeatedly caused surprising events: When the road was built up the mountain in 1959, a huge lock suddenly appeared. In 2016, the ground collapsed once again, creating another hole two meters deep.
The Wauberg, a side hill of the Tabor, also holds some secrets that only recently came to light. The first scientific excavations were carried out here in 2015, during which a cistern and pottery shards from the 12th century were discovered. These finds date back to the Bamberg and Spanheim periods. They could also be the remains of the castle of Duke Bernhard, who was active in Villach and Wernberg at this time.

Climbing in the forest
The Taborhöhe forest rope park leads through a naturally grown mixed forest over trees between two and twenty meters high, which are connected with ropes and create a natural course with wobbly bridges and nets. For visitors, this opens up the forest from a completely different perspective and invites them to enjoy surprising views and panoramas.
On nine courses with different levels of difficulty, visitors are secured to steel cables and cross bridges, balance on wobbly boards, then pass through rope loops and over narrow beams before whizzing through the forest on a zip wire.
Before setting off, each guest receives a detailed briefing from professional trainers. Equipped with safety equipment, consisting of a climbing harness, helmet and carabiner, they then head off on the rope pulley over the course of their choice. The "Safety Line" safety system guarantees the highest level of safety.
