The Advent and Christmas season in Carinthia.
The silence by the lake.
Every year again.
When we talk about the quietest time of the year, we mean the days and weeks around Christmas. From Advent through the holidays, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day to the end of the Christmas vacation. It is the time of the traditional Christmas vacation and actually a time when there is quite a lot going on. Many occasions to celebrate, get together and enjoy often leave little room for silence. But if you look out over the lake from your room, the wellness area, the lobby or the restaurant during Advent in Carinthia and your Christmas vacation, you will be immersed in this silence. It invites you to reflect, regenerate and let go. A cozy, informal Christmas celebration awaits you on Christmas Eve: parlor music, readings and Christmas stories on Christmas Eve and gala menus on Christmas Day and St. Stephen's Day.
When we look inwards.
Advent in Austria is always a time for a change of perspective. Things that often seem big and important take a back seat. Family, friends and traditions take center stage, feelings, heartfelt moments and memories come to the fore.
When the focus is on enjoyment.
Here in Carinthia, too, the smell of freshly baked cookies and punch wafts through the house during the Christmas vacations. When everything smells of Christmas, of cinnamon sticks and fir branches. Add to that glittering crystals, a crackling fire and burning candles, and silence descends.
When we look back to the past.
The motto of Advent at the Karnerhof is: As it has always been and still is today. Christmas as a time of contemplation, peace and relaxation. So enjoy the many Christmas and Advent markets in our area and take a relaxing break.
Advent magic around the Karnerhof.
Mulled wine, lights and a pre-Christmas atmosphere.
A stroll through the many Carinthian Advent markets around the Karnerhof is like a wondrous journey through a glittering, fragrant and enchanting fairytale world. The happy ending awaits at the gourmet dinner in the Karnerhof in the evening. Sun and snow or fog over the lakes, enriched with customs and traditions and above all with tempting pre-Christmas delights. You can experience this in historic town centers as well as by the water or at the top of the mountain. It smells of chestnuts, cinnamon and mulled wine. The snow-covered trees cast long shadows on the glistening snow in the light of the torches. The twinkling starry sky spreads out above.

Christmas vacation as a break from everyday life.
Relaxation and contemplation.
Christmas and vacations are inseparable. So how about a little Christmas sabbatical? The word "sabbatical" comes from the Hebrew word "sabat", which means "to pause". It fits perfectly with the combination of Christmas and vacation. Because you like it gentle, enjoyable and quiet? Are you fed up with endless queues in front of the lifts? Crowds rolling from the parking lot towards the cable car? And the feeling that you are wasting your valuable vacation time? How about using the planned end-of-year sabbatical to slow down? Step on the brakes of life? Enter a time bubble of smiles? And immerse yourself in new spheres of well-being?
Because the lake is also in the Christmas spirit during Advent in Carinthia. And the SEEMOTIONS are accordingly geared towards coziness, warmth, togetherness and safety. Those who look out over the lake during the long nights, from their room, from the wellness area, from the lobby or even from the restaurant, are immersed in silence, inner peace and harmony.
With home-baked cookies, candlelight and the scent of pine branches, it is particularly easy to regenerate. In other words, when you switch from having to to being able to in a relaxed Christmas mood. Without the all-too-familiar pre-Christmas stress. Without all the preparations. Then a new vacation quality begins. Chill out and relax off the beaten vacation track. Consciously enjoy slowly instead of cramming yourself full of things to do.

Christmas and presents.
A brief history of giving.
Presents have always been as much a part of Christmas as the Christmas tree, cookies and lots of candles. Giving gifts is probably above all "well-wrapped love". In any case, the idea behind gift-giving is important, the loving intention to bring joy. In fact, gifts have always existed. They are an integral part of our socialization and culture. There are many occasions, from Mother's Day to Christmas and birthdays to weddings, but these have changed considerably over the millennia. With increasing prosperity, even among the general population, gift-giving established itself in its current form, with people treating themselves to things that simply bring pleasure and are not necessarily essential to life. Festivals should be celebrated as they fall. Gifts are the loving highlights. Things, gestures and ideas that bring joy and are remembered.
However, "We don't give each other any more presents" is not the solution either. Because on the one hand, something is missing at Christmas - and the feelings of happiness are also lost. After all, we basically love gifts - both as givers and as recipients.
Our idea?
Give Karnerhof gift vouchers!
What could be better than a package full of happiness?
Because shared feelings have become a scarce commodity. Time together is even scarcer. Give your loved ones a diary of moments of happiness for Christmas! They are a sign of attention, appreciation, love and closeness. Moments of togetherness and enjoyment.
Living customs.
Advent is a time of waiting, reflection and preparation for the highlight of the year - Christmas. In Carinthia, Advent has a very special meaning and is celebrated with numerous customs and traditions that are passed down from generation to generation.
